let’s talk about it…

Welcome to the biographical website of a Son, Brother, and Dear Friend to Many, Gamesh Parsard.

As parents, we tend to believe that we know and understand the thoughts of our children….But, do we really?

→ Prelude

Gamesh Kemal Parsard born on Sunday, August 26th of 1979 in Kingston, Jamaica. As a first-born, a first-born grandchild, and an adorable baby – he was exceptionally special to his very large family.

→ Chapter 1

Along with his parents and younger brother, Gamesh migrated to the United States via Bronx, NY in 1983. He excelled in school as an “A” student and received many recognition awards including an Honorary award from the Governor of New York. This was an outstanding accomplishment considering he would also deliver newspapers during his middle school tenure.

→ Chapter 2

In 1994, as a teen, Gamesh relocated to Broward County, FL with his parents, younger brother and sister. Considered a very popular student, Gamesh attended McArthur HS while continuing employment throughout his academic career. Besides wrestling, his favorite pastime was spending time at the Boys and Girls Club of Hollywood interacting with the kids and counselors. He particularly enjoyed tutoring the kids and quickly understood the impact that such a positive, safe atmosphere would have on developing youth.

Now in a relationship, Gamesh began to spend more time with his girlfriend and ultimately entered the workforce full-time. Typical days consisted of transporting his siblings to school, going to work, and spending time with his family, friends, or girlfriend….A very normal life of a teenager….

→ “There’s been an accident”

The morning on September 10, 1997 (two weeks after his 18th birthday) began like every other weekday. To assist his working parents, Gamesh woke up and transported both of his siblings to their respective schools. While on lunch break, he drove to meetup with his girlfriend. Shortly after, Gamesh’s family receives a call that he was shot in the chest while sitting in the driver’s seat of his Honda Prelude. Upon investigation, the police discovered the missing magazine from the gun under the driver’s seat. The fatal shot came from a single bullet left in the chamber.

→ Wrestling with Reality

The sudden, unusual circumstances surrounding the tragic loss of a young man with a bright future left more questions than answers for his family.

Was Gamesh having issues that were not seen or identified?

How do we succeed at getting our kids to confide in us?

Do kids feel like they are letting us down when they cannot cross an obstacle?

However, the case was sealed as Gamesh was now an adult and the family forged ahead in doing their best to pick up the pieces. And while all of the pieces did not fit together any longer, the family had to move forward.

→ Moving Forward

The family firmly believes in the importance of not only being there for your children, but, also encouraging them to have positive avenues who can serve as unbiased outlets, even confidantes, without hesitation or judgement. As such, the family will actively engage causes and organizations who display these attributes, beginning with the Boys and Girls Club of Hollywood, FL in honor of Gamesh K. Parsard.
